When CloudFix Finder is looking for optimization opportunities, you would like to know if it looks out for opportunities related to changing the instance type from "reserved" to "spot" when the spot instances become available.

Information

CloudFix does not have a fixer that converts a general-purpose or Reserved Instance EC2 instance directly to a Spot Instance.

CloudFix does use Spot Instances in specific, targeted cases. For example, the EMR Retype Task Instances to Spot finder identifies EMR task instances that are good candidates for Spot and recommends replacing them with Spot Instances. Broader use of Spot for general-purpose EC2 rightsizing remains on our product roadmap for future development.
